The new facility, which is already operational, represents an investment by the Xunta de Galicia exceeding 700,000 euros. With the opening of this center, Mos now has four public nursery schools, expanding municipal resources for early childhood care and family support. The visit also included the Conselleira of Social Policy and Equality, Fabiola García, and the territorial delegate of the Xunta in Vigo, Ana Ortiz.
Alfonso Rueda highlighted that the Galician government will allocate 73 million euros in the 2027 regional budgets to ensure the gratuity of nursery schools, an 8% increase from the previous year, saving over 30,000 Galician families up to 4,000 euros annually. He emphasized the importance of facilitating work-life balance and supporting families to encourage population growth, recalling other regional measures such as the network of over one hundred 'casas niño' in rural areas, the Tarxeta Benvida, and aid for activities and camps through the Plan Corresponsables.
The Mayoress, Nidia Arévalo, valued the collaboration between the City Council and the Xunta to provide the municipality with more free public places and to recover a historic space like the former O Rebullón hospital.
The visit included a tour of the facilities, guided by the center's director, Paula Domínguez, and the architect responsible for the project, Ángel Jaime Santorio, who explained the building's technical characteristics. The new nursery school is the first phase of the comprehensive transformation project of O Rebullón into a socio-sanitary complex.
The day concluded with the symbolic planting of a ginkgo biloba tree, involving the child Xoel and Raquel Leirós, who has ties to the history of O Rebullón, alongside the Mayoress and the Xunta President, symbolizing the connection between generations.
