The Toques Town Council is implementing Plan VEO, which offers direct grants of up to 100 euros to subsidize the purchase of visual aid systems, such as prescription glasses and contact lenses, for minors up to sixteen years of age.

The regulation, established by Royal Decree 902/2025 and modified by Royal Decree 853/2026, aims to facilitate access to visual aid systems for the underage population. The maximum amount of the grant is €100, including VAT, per beneficiary and is awarded once a year.
The plan includes two situations for the detection and referral of vision problems. The first is when the problem is identified in Primary Care or is noticed by the family or school, referring the minor to a public ophthalmology service. If the specialist prescribes glasses or contact lenses, the family can go with the prescription to an optical shop affiliated with the Plan.
The second situation is for those minors who already used glasses or contact lenses before the Plan began. In this case, they can access the aid if an optician-optometrist determines they need a new set. If the cost of the equipment is €100 or less, nothing will have to be paid; if it is more, only the difference will be paid.
The deadline for acquiring these visual aid systems extends from October 9, 2025, to December 31, 2027, or until budgetary availability is exhausted.
