The new platform, with an investment of 207,599 euros, will allow primary care professionals to capture dermatological images with their mobile devices and send them to the Servizo Galego de Saúde's corporate systems. The images will be linked to the patient and integrated into the electronic health record for consultation by dermatology services.
The solution aims to strengthen primary care capabilities and facilitate coordination with hospital dermatology services, as well as improve the availability and monitoring of clinical information. It includes the possibility of using artificial intelligence to check image quality at the moment of capture and will store images in the DICOM standard to promote interoperability and future integration of diagnostic support algorithms.
This initiative represents an evolution from the current teledermatology process, which used obsolete digital cameras. The new solution consolidates image capture, data recording, and integration of care information onto a mobile device.
The implementation of SERGAS PROF will begin with a pilot project in October at the Virxe Peregrina health center (Pontevedra health area), followed in November by the health centers of Sárdoma (Vigo health area) and Vite (Santiago de Compostela health area). The extension of the functionality is planned between January and March 2027.
SERGAS PROF is conceived as a mobile platform capable of progressively incorporating new services and functionalities, promoting telemedicine and professional mobility. It is part of the Digital Health and Transformation Plan of the Consellería de Sanidade.
