The Association of Media in Galician (Amega) organized this event, promoted with the sponsorship of the Xunta de Galicia's General Secretariat for Media and the collaboration of the faculty. The event aimed to reflect on the challenges facing media in an era of profound transformation marked by artificial intelligence, new consumption habits, social networks, disinformation, media literacy, changes in business models, and the emergence of new formats.
Researchers and professionals addressed issues such as proximity, specialization, and new narratives and audiences. The conference, led by Tamara Novoa, director of the digital publication A Movida, was inaugurated by the dean of the Faculty of Communication, Emma Torres, and the Xunta de Galicia's Secretary General for Language, Valentín García. Both highlighted the importance of the language as a "differential advantage" and the need to use it in professional work.
Professor Xosé Baamonde opened the series of presentations with an analysis of media, institutions, and citizenship, while professor María Cruz Negreira focused on local media and citizen needs. Journalist Laura Filloy delved into scientific dissemination, and Manuel Gago, from the Consello da Cultura Galega, presented experiences in cultural dissemination and cyberjournalism.
The event concluded with a colloquium with students, who answered the central question about what the Galician media needed by new generations should look like.
