The Xunta de Galicia will freeze taxes and increase the public price regulatory subsidy by more than 22 million euros to avoid passing on increased service costs to Galicians, as announced by the Minister of Finance, Miguel Corgos, in Parliament.

The Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Miguel Corgos, explained today in the 3rd Commission of the Parliament the draft General Budget Law of the Autonomous Community for the coming year. He highlighted that the freezing of taxes and public prices will result in a combined saving of 1.1 million euros. The Galician government's strategy combines financial responsibility with improving the situation of households and strengthening Galicia's growth in a high inflation scenario.
Corgos emphasized that the tax measures already approved, such as the €500 deduction for renting out empty homes and the 15% reduction in repair and maintenance expenses, have put more than 500 homes on the rental market this year. He also recalled the consolidated tax reductions in personal income tax (IRPF), which place Galicia among the Autonomous Communities with the best tax treatment for low and middle incomes.
For the coming year, new tax relief measures aim to reduce housing taxes, with a 0.3 point reduction in the Stamp Duty (Impuesto de Actos Jurídicos Documentados) for pre-delivery housing procedures. Furthermore, the 99% reduction in Inheritance Tax is extended to facilitate succession in family businesses, covering third-degree relatives and long-serving employees.
These reductions are in addition to existing ones that, between 2020 and 2025, have saved Galicians nearly €2.1 billion. Tax benefits for the coming year will total €812 million, almost 90% of which are social in nature. The 2027 budgets, with a spending capacity of €15.158 billion (a 6.4% increase), are designed to provide security to families and businesses against rising prices and interest rates, without resorting to debt.
The minister also announced the mid-term evaluation of the Galicia 2030 Strategic Plan and detailed his department's accounts, including the modernization of Public Function, the call for more than 4,000 positions by 2027, prudent public debt management, and adaptation to the new Public Accounting Plan. Regarding European Funds, efforts will focus on preparing the 2028-2034 period and boosting the execution of the 2021-2027 framework.
In Administrative Simplification, the reduction of burdens and the Galician Public Procurement Strategy will continue. In Heritage management, the aim is to further reduce the amount paid for leases by 10%. The Galician Tax Agency (ATRIGA) is committed to digitalized assistance, and the Galician School of Public Administration (EGAP) will increase its training offerings.
The Agency for Technological Modernization of Galicia (Amtega) will implement a corporate governance model for Artificial Intelligence and expand the CeMIT classrooms. The ‘Galicia Calidade TIC’ seal will recognize innovative companies, and network resilience will be improved. More than €14 million will be dedicated to cybersecurity, and the Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity of Galicia (CECIGA) in Ourense will be equipped.
