The event, taking place at the Centro Cultural Marcos Valcárcel from 11 AM, will feature a Guatemalan delegation. Participants include Antonio Sharshente, vice-mayor of the municipality of Jocotán, and Ángel Berna and Marvin Calderón from the association Mejorha. This association has already implemented several projects supported by the Fondo Galego through the NGO Solidariedade Internacional de Galicia, which will also participate.
'Territorios que transforman' events will continue in the other three Galician provinces during the second week of November. These meetings will include Marta Calderón, a specialist in cooperation and international relations from the Office of the Conservator of the City of Santiago de Cuba. The event in A Coruña is scheduled for November 10th, as part of a broader training program on twinning and humanitarian aid. The Cuban guest will also give an open talk in other partner councils of the Fondo Galego.
This initiative, funded by the Dirección General de Políticas de Desarrollo Sostenible and coordinated by the Confederación de Fondos de Cooperación y Solidaridad, aims to integrate international cooperation and policy coherence into local agendas. Participation in networks like the Fondo Galego democratizes council involvement in this area.
During the sessions, the manuals ‘Municipalismo e solidariedade. Do discurso á práctica’ and ‘Proxectos destacados e boas prácticas da cooperación descentralizada’ will be distributed.
