Representatives from the Curtis City Council held a meeting with the director of Augas de Galicia, Roi Fernández, which was also attended by the president of the Conservation Urban Entity of the Curtis-Teixeiro Industrial Polygon, Luis González, and technical staff. The situation of the La Castellana dam, an essential infrastructure for the water supply to the Teixeiro industrial polygon, was discussed during the meeting.
During the meeting, the necessary interventions were analyzed, such as dredging the reservoir and increasing its storage capacity, with the aim of guaranteeing the water supply service. The problem of sediment accumulation, which has significantly reduced the dam's useful volume, became particularly evident during the recent drought episode, leading the Xunta to declare a pre-alert for water scarcity in the Mandeo River basin.
As a result of the meeting, the Curtis City Council will improve its initial proposal with the received indications, formulating an urgent action proposal. This demand for dredging, cleaning, and increasing the dam's capacity had already been unanimously agreed upon by the polygon's businessmen last September, with the Curtis City Council joining this shared request.
