The Faculty of International Relations at the Ourense campus held a day focused on professional opportunities for its degree program this Friday. The event was supported by the Social Council of the University of Vigo and featured Nieves Bouzas Kabundi, an international projects support technician at the consultancy ICSEM and a graduate from the faculty's first cohort (2022-2026).
At the opening, Laura Carballo, dean of the faculty, expressed pride in having the first graduating class and alumni already beginning their professional careers. Nieves Bouzas shared her experience and perspective on entering the job market after four years of study, acknowledging the common doubts and fears students face. She explained that she chose to work after completing her degree's internship at a sustainability consultancy in Vigo, where she was later hired after a scholarship.
Mar Rodríguez, deputy director general of Relations with the EU at the Directorate General for External Relations and the EU (Consellería de Presidencia, Xustiza e Deportes), also participated. She informed students about professional opportunities in the public sector, particularly in Galicia, emphasizing that autonomous communities are also international actors. She discussed scholarships from the Fundación Galicia-Europa, European institutions, and access to public service in the EU.
The first cohort of the International Relations Degree at UVigo graduated on May 29th. The program, launched in the 2022/2023 academic year, is among the degrees with the highest entry requirements at the University of Vigo and the Galician University System. It is an interuniversity degree, with the first two years common with the Ferrol campus (Universidade da Coruña), and distinct specializations in the third and fourth years, with Ourense focusing on International Project and Business Management. The degree is trilingual (Galician, Spanish, and English), with 50% of instruction delivered in English.
