The official reported that the Xunta's accounts for 2027 will allocate nearly €520 million to housing policies, covering the construction of new homes, the acquisition of more residential land, and regulatory modifications to expedite the availability of housing.
Of the €520 million, €293 million will go to the Galician Institute of Housing and Land, representing an 8.5% increase compared to 2026. Additionally, the Consortium of Vigo's Old Town, 90% owned by the Xunta and 10% by the City Council, will have €2.7 million for rehabilitation policies in this municipality.
Of the total budget, 80% funded by regional own resources, €326 million will be reserved for the construction of new public promotion homes, doubling the commitment from the previous year.
García Porto also outlined the Xunta's measures to facilitate access to public housing, such as reserving 20% of new developments for individuals registered in the Demanders Registry for over 5 years, maintaining current aid for those under 36 and between 36 and 45 with children, and reserving 40% of rental housing for young people. The income limit to access these homes remains at up to 4 times the IPREM (or 4.5 for large families).
Specific aid to facilitate access to housing will increase by 5.5%, exceeding €46 million, including the Social Rent Bonus, rent subsidies, and specific aid for young people or for housing acquisition.
