On the occasion of World Menopause Day, commemorated today, October 18, the Xunta de Galicia reinforces its commitment to promoting health during this vital stage. The initiative aims to offer rigorous information, prevent health problems, and improve women's well-being.
The Directorate General of Public Health and the Healthy Life Chair of the University of Santiago de Compostela are collaborating on the development of mini-guides and informative infographics. These materials address key aspects such as rest, emotional well-being, memory, nutrition, physical activity, and bone and cardiovascular health.
Menopause can have repercussions on various dimensions of health, from sleep and emotional well-being to quality of life. Despite this, doubts and myths persist, making it difficult for many women to access reliable information to understand the changes they experience and make informed decisions about their health.
The materials are being developed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals in gynecology, neurology, nutrition, and physiotherapy, led by Dr. Victoria Sampayo. This collaboration marks the beginning of a line of work aimed at ensuring that health promotion is also present during menopause, facilitating access to verified information and promoting healthy habits.
By making these tools available, the Xunta seeks to support women through different stages of their lives, offering them resources to care for themselves and prevent health problems. The mini-guides and infographics will be available on the websites of the Healthy Life Chair of the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Directorate General of Public Health.
