The Observatory of the Right to Information (ObsInfo) is launched with the aim of analyzing the Spanish media landscape and ensuring compliance with legal regulations and ethical codes.

The Observatory of the Right to Information (ObsInfo) is being launched, driven by specialists from professional and academic entities in the field of informative communication. Its objective is to analyze the Spanish media landscape and ensure compliance with ethical codes and the legal regulations that govern it.
From the Audiovisual Studies Group of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), a member of this consortium, they note that "Despite current European laws and the usual journalistic self-regulation bodies in countries in our region, the Spanish State continues to be an exception in observing citizens' right to receive truthful and plural information".
Therefore, ObsInfo will unite the efforts of various collectives that have been examining the daily practice of informative communication for years. It will produce periodic reports on the state of the Right to Information in Spain, disseminate the work carried out by its members, and present complaints regarding non-compliance to the relevant authorities. All of this will be done with the collaboration of citizens, the ultimate subject and object of the existence of this fundamental right.
The entities that make up the Observatory, in addition to the USC, are Fundación Contexto y Acción; DemocMedia Group from the University of Seville; Democ-Com; Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the UCM; Faculty of Communication Sciences of the URJC; UNESCO Chair in Communication Research of the URJC; Spanish Association of Communication Research (AE-IC); Kazeteriak/Asociación e Colegio Vasco de Periodistas; Professional College of Journalists of Galicia; PolCom-Group from the Pompeu Fabra University; and the Faculty of Information Sciences of the UCM. Additionally, professors Margarita Ledo and Enrique Castelló from USC participate in its advisory board.
