The Director General of Renewable Energies and Climate Change, Paula Uría, today advocated for the Galician coastal management model as a benchmark and an example for other coastal communities, highlighting the positive impact of the transfer of powers.

During her intervention at the I Congress of Canary Coasts, held in Las Palmas, Paula Uría emphasized that the transfer of resources, functions, and services in this area to Galicia has marked “a before and an after” for the Galician coast.
She explained that since July 2025, progress has been made in consolidating a simpler, more homogeneous, and accessible management model, citing as examples the single electronic application for authorizations and concessions, and the unification of technical criteria, deadlines, and fees across the three Galician coastal provinces.
The Xunta has also strengthened support for citizens, municipalities, and the productive sector by creating the Galicia litoral portal, a specific information channel on 012, guides, and training workshops. In less than 15 months, Galicia has already processed 2,749 coastal-related actions.
Other notable initiatives include the Catálogo de bens de valor cultural no litoral de Galicia (Catalog of cultural heritage assets on the Galician coast), which has already enabled the change of use of the Cereixo tidal mill (Vimianzo) into an ethnographic museum, and the Camiño do Litoral (Coastal Path), a route of almost 1,400 kilometers from Ribadeo to A Guarda, aimed at preserving and revitalizing the coast and adding tourist appeal.
Furthermore, a tourism promotion campaign for the Camiño do Litoral has been launched, including posters with QR codes, materials for tourist information offices, and logbooks for walkers.
