During her speech, the minister argued that the CAP should be endowed with a sufficient budget, without cuts, and maintain its status as a common policy. She expressed disagreement with both the 20% reduction in funds and the disappearance of the second pillar, rural development, within the multiannual financial framework.
Gómez stated that "We cannot accept that the future of Galician farms depends increasingly on the financial capacity of each Member State nor that rural development loses weight within European policies." Furthermore, she called on the central government to fulfill its negotiating responsibility with an ambitious stance.
She also recalled the request made to Minister Luis Planas to, in turn, request a moratorium from the EU on the entry into force of the digital record for farms, scheduled for January 1, 2027, to avoid new administrative burdens and costs for small holdings.
The minister emphasized the common position reached with agricultural organizations, which called for a CAP with sufficient funding, the maintenance of the two pillars, and the protection of rural development.
