During his response to a parliamentary interpellation, Nicolás Vázquez explained that Galicia's progress requires a strong, professional, independent, and rigorous environmental Administration. He stressed that all decisions made by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change adhere to environmental values, technical studies, and current regulations.
The minister highlighted that environmental assessment procedures are key to ensuring the compatibility of protecting the territory's environmental values with the development of industrial projects. He also advocated for providing citizens with clear and correct information on environmental processing.
Regarding green infrastructure, Vázquez emphasized the importance of using correct terminology, differentiating between the Green Infrastructure Strategy as a planning instrument and green infrastructure as a territorial network. He pointed out that including a space in this cartographic category "would not, in itself, constitute an absolute prohibition of all activity," but rather its compatibility and conditions would be determined within the framework of the environmental assessment.
In conclusion, Nicolás Vázquez stated that he assumes his responsibility at the head of the Ministry with the objective of ensuring that "all projects without exception are evaluated with the same rigor and the same guarantees."
