The Xunta de Galicia is allocating over €2.3 million to 31 municipalities and 10 associations to enhance their market halls as quality marketplaces, promoting the 'Excellent Market' seal.

The Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) publishes today the resolution of a call from the Ministry of Employment, Commerce, and Emigration aimed at dynamizing and certifying Galician market halls. A total of 31 municipalities and 10 associations will benefit from these grants, amounting to over €2.3 million, to be distributed between the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years.
The funding, with an intensity of 80% of eligible expenses, supports the maintenance and improvement of market halls that already hold the 'Excellent Market' seal. It also provides measures for diagnosis, training, and rehabilitation for those aspiring to obtain it, along with initiatives for dynamism and customer loyalty.
For municipalities, the total value of grants awarded reaches €2.2 million. Beneficiaries include 16 municipalities from the province of Pontevedra, 11 from A Coruña, 3 from Lugo, and 1 from Ourense. Municipalities without the seal can use funds for preliminary actions to achieve it, such as updating market situation diagnoses, staff training, or preparing technical documentation. In this category, 27 municipalities are beneficiaries.
Municipalities with markets that already possess the distinction can receive support for refurbishment, service improvements, or training. Four municipalities benefited in this section.
For market hall associations, the grants total €104,490, allocated to commercial dynamism, customer loyalty, and website maintenance, among other actions. Of the 10 beneficiary entities, 8 are from the province of Pontevedra, 1 from A Coruña, and 1 from Ourense.
