The Eisenman Hall at the Cidade da Cultura hosted the closing event of the project «Relevo xeracional: o futuro do mar», which brought together more than 80 people to review a year of work aimed at introducing the maritime-fishing sector to young people.

The meeting served to highlight the sector's job and training opportunities and to contribute to addressing the generational change challenge. The institutional opening included the participation of the Conselleira do Mar, Marta Villaverde Acuña; the president of GALP Ría de Arousa, Miguel Ángel Iglesias Romero; the director xeral of Vocational Training, María Eugenia Pérez Fernández; and the director xeral of Fisheries Development, Ángeles Vázquez Suárez. The panel was moderated by the manager of GALP Ría de Arousa, Rosa Carballo Martínez.
During the event, data was presented indicating that only 26.5% of the 33,174 people affiliated with the Special Maritime Regime were under 40 years old in 2025. The need to improve the connection between training and professional activity, facilitating contact between students and companies, was also highlighted. Aquaculture, technological innovation, and productive diversification were presented as areas with potential, alongside extractive fishing.
Throughout the project, activities were carried out in 25 educational centers, involving 998 students. These actions included visits to training centers, facilities linked to maritime-fishing activities, eight boat trips, and a camp on the island of Ons. Additionally, an informative session on Dual Vocational Training was held in Ribeira, with 76 attendees and 20 speakers.
The project also produced eight thematic audiovisual pieces and a promotional video, and was present at the EDUGAL fair in Pontevedra. The closing event included a round table on best practices for promoting generational change and concluded with the presentation of the promotional video and a tasting of seafood products.
