The sound of bagpipes, the work of clay tile makers, the flavors of the land, and a Praza do Calvario packed with people marked the success of the Autumn Festival of Pilar in O Rosal. For two days, hundreds of people participated in a program that combined music, gastronomy, traditions, and popular culture, highlighting the local identity and heritage.
The mayor, Ánxela Fernández Callís, highlighted the "enormous response from the residents" and noted that these festivals are "an opportunity to reconnect with our traditions and recognize the work of so many people and groups who contribute to preserving and passing on our culture".
Music kicked off the festivities on Sunday the 11th with concerts by La orquestina de la abuela Pina and Tiruleque. Monday continued with an intense day in the Praza do Calvario, which hosted the 5th O Rosal Products Fair, where local producers exhibited, offered tastings, and sold regional products. The gastronomic offerings were complemented by octopus and ham, accompanied by music from Castro y los Escoltas.
The VI Irmáns Flores Memorial, organized by the Asociación de Gaiteiros da Xistra, brought together groups such as Os Terribles de Donas (Gondomar), Alxibeira (Narón), and Faíscas da Pontagra (Tordoia), keeping alive the memory of the old rosaleira bands.
The demonstration of the cabaqueiros' work, showcasing the traditional process of making roof tiles, was another significant moment, transmitting a craft deeply linked to O Rosal's history. Young people also participated with Barafunda's activity, ‘O gran cabaqueiro de globos’. The program also included performances by the band of the Agrupación Musical do Rosal (AMdOR), the Coral Ecos do Folón, and an exhibition of painting and basketry by students of Águeda Suárez.
