The Xunta de Galicia and the Chantada City Council are collaborating on the expansion of the municipal waste management facility and the acquisition of an organic waste collection vehicle, with an investment of 194,500 euros from the Ministry of Environment.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is contributing 194,500 euros to promote several initiatives in Chantada (Lugo) aimed at improving waste management. These actions include the expansion of the waste management facility, the acquisition of a vehicle for separate collection of organic waste, the implementation of composting, and the selective collection of textile waste.
The territorial delegate for Lugo, Alfonso Villares, and the mayor of Chantada, Manuel Lorenzo Varela, visited the waste management facility to oversee the progress of the works. The main objective is to increase the surface area of these facilities, which are already equipped for the reception, selective separation, and temporary storage of domestic waste with special characteristics.
The expansion project includes the construction of new enclosures, thresholds, and a reception and admission booth. These improvements aim to optimize the efficiency of municipal waste management, promoting cleaner, more sustainable, and healthier spaces for citizens.
