Arzúa's Casa das Mulleres is expanding its monthly program with meeting and mutual support activities, and launching the campaign 'Violence is also lying' to raise awareness about gender violence denial.

The Department of Equality of the Arzúa City Council has presented the November program for the Casa das Mulleres, aiming to consolidate this space as a hub for women's meetings, participation, and mutual support. This month's calendar combines regular activities with a special program around November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Equality technician Sabela Losada explained that the goal is for the Casa das Mulleres to be "a space of their own for all women in Arzúa, where they can feel safe and supported." The November program includes meetings on migrant women and invisible violence, legal advice, and new training proposals.
The municipal campaign for November 25th, under the slogan "Violencia tamén é mentir" (Violence is also lying), focuses on the trivialization and denial of gender violence. Equality councilor Lucía López stated that these discourses "invisibilize victims, fuel sexist prejudices, and hinder progress towards real equality."
López warned that denying this reality has direct consequences for victims and is "especially serious when we know that there are women who need protection and support." The campaign also addresses digital harassment and deepfakes.
The November program includes activities such as an excursion to Lugo titled "Weaving Sisterhood Against Violence Against Women" on November 7th, workshops on obstetric violence on November 19th, and activities in educational centers. On November 24th, inter-institutional agreements will be signed, and the institutional event will take place on November 25th.
