The City Council of A Cañiza, through a Mayoral Decree dated today, October 30, 2026, declares a water resource shortage and imposes extraordinary measures to ensure the continuity of the municipal drinking water supply.

The Mayor of A Cañiza, Luis Antonio Gómez Piña, announced today, October 30, 2026, via Resolution 2026-1481, the declaration of a water resource shortage. This resolution adopts extraordinary measures to guarantee the continuity of the municipal drinking water supply service for residents.
During the resolution's validity, water will be cut off from the Municipal Supply of A Cañiza between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Users are advised to be careful when opening taps in the morning, once service is restored.
Furthermore, hoarding water is expressly prohibited to ensure the effectiveness of the temporary shutdown. Non-essential uses of water from the municipal supply are also forbidden, including watering private gardens, orchards, and green areas, filling private swimming pools, washing streets, patios, or facades, washing vehicles, and any other recreational or ornamental use incompatible with the existing scarcity.
The Council also recommends residents reduce domestic consumption to the essential minimum, suggesting measures such as avoiding prolonged showers, turning off the tap while soaping or brushing teeth, using washing machines and dishwashers only with full loads, and avoiding any other unnecessary water use. It is also recommended to check private installations for and repair any water leaks.
The Council may conduct controls and inspections to verify compliance with these measures. Non-compliance may lead to the adoption of legal measures and the imposition of sanctions according to current legislation.
