The meetings, organized by the UDC along with the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, and the Universidade do Minho, aim to be a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences between academic and research fields.
The International Conference on Structural and Civil Engineering (ICSCE 2026) will focus on the advances and challenges in architecture and civil engineering, with special attention to sustainable and intelligent architecture and functional and artistic design. It aims to foster the exchange of new ideas and opportunities for scientific and technical collaboration, addressing environmental challenges.
Meanwhile, the tenth edition of the International Conference on Building Materials and Materials Engineering (ICBMM 2026) will address advances in materials research and development, crucial for improving the performance, efficiency, and sustainability of constructions. Thematic areas include construction materials, semiconductors, organic and polymeric materials, nanomaterials, composites, and biomaterials.
The conferences feature participation from researchers at the Center for Technological Innovation in Building and Civil Engineering (CITEEC), including the groups of Structural Mechanics (GME), Construction (gCONS), and Architectural Structures (GEA). Notable invited speakers include Félix Nieto Mouronte, local organizing chair, and Belén González Fonteboa, who will present on surrogate models in civil and energy structures and on sustainability strategies in construction.
As a complement, attendees visited the main laboratories of the CITEEC, gaining firsthand knowledge of the center's facilities and experimental resources for research and innovation in structures, architecture, and construction materials.
