The Minister of Social Policy and Equality, Ángeles Vázquez, accompanied by the territorial delegate in A Coruña, Belén do Campo, met this midday with the president of the Red Cross in Galicia, Mercedes Casanova, and other board members to reaffirm the Xunta's commitment to the entity in order to continue offering coordinated support to vulnerable individuals.
In their first contact, the minister highlighted the entity's work in areas such as child protection, people at risk of exclusion, victims of gender violence, and the elderly. She also mentioned the work of managing the telephone helpline for unwanted loneliness.
“"It is very encouraging to know that every Galician who needs it and dials 900 830 831 will find on the other side, a Red Cross professional who works 'for and for people'."
The minister emphasized that this Xunta telephone helpline is an indispensable element to help anyone who feels alone. Ángeles Vázquez thanked the Red Cross for its work in Galicia and conveyed the Galician Government's willingness to continue working for those most in need throughout the territory.
