The A Coruña Council has put out to tender several works in the O Carón urbanization. The project, agreed with residents and with private funding, will put an end to an urbanization that remained unfinished for years. The actions include the review and replacement of all urban equipment, reinforcements for accessibility and signage, and other necessary interventions to complete the urbanization.
Upon completion of these works, the Council will be able to receive the public roads and spaces to take charge of their conservation and maintenance. The mayor, Inés Rey, emphasized that "we are going to complete a process that had been stalled for years and will allow all this roadway to become municipal property, with what this means for the residents, who will no longer have to bear the maintenance costs of the roads".
The reform will benefit the group of homes located between Avenida de Nova York and the Club de Golf road. It will include the refurbishment of sidewalks, parking lines, and other punctual repairs. Within the residential areas, a new pedestrian priority access road will be completed, allowing entry for residents' vehicles, equipped with sanitation, lighting, electricity, gas, and telecommunications services.
Furthermore, renovations of pavements on both sidewalks and roadways will be carried out, along with reinforcement of service networks, expansion and modernization of urban equipment and furniture, and inspections to detect necessary repairs. Around the sports court, a new fence will be installed to protect an existing slope, and the wall area will be renovated.
