The Poio City Council commemorated International Rural Women's Day this midday with an event in front of the City Hall, where María Castro, from the Samieira Rural Women's Association, read the institutional manifesto.

The Council joined the declaration by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) to recognize and highlight the role of rural women in the economic, social, and cultural development of municipalities, and to advocate for equal opportunities.
During the reading, the contribution of women who, generation after generation, worked in agriculture, fishing, commerce, and caregiving was valued, contributing to the progress of the parishes and the maintenance of rural life.
With this event, the Poio City Council reaffirms its commitment to equality and the recognition of the work of rural women, who are fundamental to the present and future of the municipality.
