The three projects, which have the collaboration of various administrations such as the Provincial Council of Pontevedra and the Xunta de Galicia, aim to improve pedestrian mobility and recover areas linked to local heritage.
The global investment is distributed across three interventions: nearly 500,000 euros for the renovation of the area around the church of Santa María de Guizán (over 2,300 square meters), around 1.2 million euros for the humanization of the area around the church of Sanguiñeda, and approximately 1.3 million euros for the comprehensive improvement of the area around the church of San Miguel de Pereiras (over 5,800 square meters).
The mayor of Mos, Nidia Arévalo, highlights that "these three actions respond to the desire to continue improving the parishes of Mos, recovering public spaces for people and providing them with better conditions of accessibility, safety, and community use".
In Guizán, the work covers the church's atrium and a section of the Camiño do Pazo, including the renovation of pavements, improvement of public lighting, adaptation of service networks, rainwater drainage, and undergrounding of networks, as well as landscaping and urban furniture.
In Sanguiñeda, the project aims to convert the esplanade in front of the church into a single-level public gathering area, expanding the tower area, creating green spaces, a side access to the neighborhood association's premises, and a new building beneath the square. The canopy will also be renovated, a pergola installed, and heritage elements integrated.
The intervention in Pereiras includes the renovation of pavements, reorganization of urban installations, improvement of lighting and rainwater drainage, undergrounding of wiring, landscaping, and urban furniture, prioritizing pedestrian use and the creation of resting areas and green spaces. The parish hall will also be improved.
These interventions are part of the Mos City Council's plan to improve public spaces and heritage surroundings in the parishes, combining municipal resources and funding from other administrations.
