The University of Vigo is showcasing its higher education transformation projects in Europe at the Higher Education Transformation Week (HET Week) in Brussels. The initiative, organized by the European University Foundation, brings together Erasmus+ KA2 projects contributing to teaching innovation, future competencies, mobility, inclusion, digitalization, and sustainability in the university sector.
The UVigo delegation is led by the coordinators of the MicroHEI (Fernando Cerdeira) and DACEM (Manuel Caeiro) projects, both led by the Vigo university, and by researcher Raquel Lozano representing GreenEURproject. Participation also includes meetings with other institutions to learn about best practices and strengthen European contacts, as explained by Eva Garea, Director of the International Education Projects Area at the UVigo's International Projects Office (OPI), who is also attending with Lorena Diana Gatea, an international education project promotion technician.
The MicroHEI project, focused on microcredentials for the professional development of university staff, has its own dedicated session. With a global budget of 400,000 euros and a 36-month duration, it aims to establish a common ground among six European institutions for the recognition of training, emphasizing digital, green, and inclusive competencies.
Meanwhile, DACEM, another Erasmus+ KA220-HED project coordinated by UVigo, leverages digital transformation to facilitate academic mobility by digitizing academic catalogs and improving the management of processes and joint educational offerings.
Sustainability is represented by GreenEURproject, coordinated by the Université de Lorraine, in which UVigo participates alongside institutions from Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Turkey to reduce the environmental impact of European projects.
UVigo's OPI is participating in joint sessions to learn about trends, methodologies, and solutions from European consortia, exchange experiences, and expand the university's network, thereby strengthening its presence in European university cooperation networks.
