The Xunta is allocating nearly €300,000 for eleven research grants to expand knowledge on the Galician language and literature at the Ramón Piñeiro Center, as published today in the Diario Oficial de Galicia.

The grants will enable selected researchers to delve into linguistic, literary, historical, and anthropological aspects of the Galician language. Projects include the Historical-Etymological Dictionary of the Galician Language, the Bibliography of the Galician Language, Galician Phraseology, the Reference Corpus of Current Galician (CORGA), the Cantigas de Santa María, Medieval Literary Prose, Scientific and Technical Terminology, Resources for the Development of Speech Technologies, the ALIR Database (Romance Linguistic Atlas), and Dictionaries of Children's and Young Adult Literature.
The evaluation committee considered the merits documented by the applicants, such as their academic record's average grade, complementary training, communications and congresses related to the grant, and publications. The estimated start date for these research projects is December 1st of this year, and they will conclude by November 30th, 2028 at the latest.
