The Director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Merelles, appeared this morning before the 3rd Commission of the Parliament of Galicia to present his department's budgets for 2027. The Xunta will allocate a total of 132.3 million euros, an increase of 6.39 million compared to the previous year, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the Galician tourism sector, enriching its offerings, boosting international promotion, and equitably distributing economic benefits throughout the territory.
The budgets aim to consolidate Galicia as a competitive, modern, sustainable, and balanced tourist destination. Priorities include the technological modernization of companies, infrastructure improvements, the promotion of digitalization and digital marketing, as well as the promotion of new products such as wine tourism and premium tourism, aimed at attracting visitors with higher purchasing power. 8 million euros will also be allocated to the energy efficiency of tourist establishments, co-financed by FEDER funds.
Tourism of Galicia will also strengthen international promotion, increasing investment to 16 million euros. Furthermore, 5 million euros will be allocated to support improvement actions in municipalities and geodestinations, promoting projects related to accessibility, mobility, waste management, and digitalization.
The celebration of the Xacobeo 2027 will have a significant role, with a global allocation of 96.67 million euros. This includes the Fondo Ultreia Xacobeo, with 9 million euros to channel contributions from sponsoring companies, and 7 million for the maintenance and conservation of the Jacobean routes. The 'O Teu Xacobeo' program will have 3 million euros to promote local initiatives.
“"These are budgets to invest, to organize, to train, to promote, and to conserve. Budgets that support companies and municipalities, that care for pilgrims and resident communities, and that strengthen Galicia's international position."
