The Council of Poio has launched its first reading club, named ‘Letras que Unen’, an initiative that already has over 20 participants and takes place on the third Wednesday of each month at the Pazo Besada.

The project aims to foster reading habits, promote the exchange of opinions, and create a space for meeting and coexistence. The activity is aimed at adult residents of the municipality, is free of charge, and is open to new members who can register at the Pazo Besada.
The first chosen work was Historia de una maestra, by Josefina Aldecoa, which served as a starting point for reflection on education, freedom, and the role of women in society. The session allowed for the exchange of different viewpoints in a participatory atmosphere.
Club members choose the works, and for the next session, they opted for Golpes de luz, by the Galician writer Ledicia Costas. The club meets on the third Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 PM, at the Pazo Besada facilities.
The Councilor for Welfare and Equality, Natividad Torres, highlighted that the initiative goes beyond reading, fostering conversation, the exchange of experiences, and personal relationships, helping to prevent isolation and build community bonds.
