The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, visited today the completion of the third phase of the PO-235 road improvement in the municipality of A Lama, highlighting a total investment of €8 million and the commitment to road safety.

The President of the Galician Government, Alfonso Rueda, announced today that the completion of the third and final phase of the improvement works on the PO-235 road, in the Pontevedra municipality of A Lama, marks the end of a comprehensive upgrade plan for this regional route, which has seen a total investment of €8 million over recent years.
Rueda stated that this project, covering nearly seven kilometers between Seixido and A Portela da Cruz, involved an investment of €4.1 million for this latest section and addresses a long-standing demand from residents and the local council. The primary objective, according to the president, is to create safer and more comfortable infrastructure by correcting the winding layout, replacing sharp curves, and equipping the roadway with a renewed surface and wider lanes.
The regional leader emphasized the importance of "integrating" inland Galicia, asserting that the Xunta is committed to "Galicia Quality in roads and road safety." He recalled that the Galician Government manages a regional road network exceeding 5,500 kilometers and balances the construction of new high-performance routes with the maintenance of existing ones.
In this regard, Rueda indicated that next year's budget will allocate increased resources to the maintenance and upkeep of the road network, which this year reached a historic figure of over €71 million.
