Xunta de Galicia · 2026-10-27

The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, and the mayor of Sanxenxo, Telmo Martín, signed a protocol today for the transfer of municipal land in Vilalonga that will allow the construction of around 350 new homes, the majority of them protected.

The agreement, signed in the Pontevedra town of Sanxenxo, aims to increase the supply of affordable housing for first residences, with special attention to young people and vulnerable groups. President Rueda highlighted the “joint effort” to develop this initiative, which complements others already planned in the area.
This action is in addition to two plots located in Noalla and Rúa das Cunchas, previously transferred free of charge by the City Council, where the Xunta plans to build another 65 public promotion homes. The objective is to meet the housing needs of young people and residents from surrounding areas who wish to live in the municipality.
The area covered by the agreement is located in the parish of Vilalonga, in an environment with services and good connection to the Autovía do Salnés. The Project of Regional Interest (PIA) instrument will allow for the organization and unblocking of this land, redesigning the development to make it viable and streamlining procedures.
Institutional collaboration includes the acquisition of the land by the council from SAREB, at a cost of 3.5 million euros, financed by the Xunta's Cooperation Fund. Furthermore, with today's signing, the municipality transfers the land to the regional administration for the drafting and processing of the PIA.
