The president of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Valentín González Formoso, and the mayor of Boiro, José Ramón Romero, signed an agreement today at the Pazo de Goiáns to fund the conservation of the estate's cider press, dwelling, and stables. These buildings are significantly deteriorated and require consolidation work to ensure their preservation.
The project has a total investment of €252,332.38. The Provincial Council will contribute €201,865.90 (80%), while the Boiro Council will provide the remaining €50,466.48. This work will continue the recovery of this historic site, following previous interventions on the main building and the chapel.
Valentín González Formoso highlighted the importance of collaboration in preserving a space "closely linked to the history and identity of Boiro," stating that "we are taking another step in the recovery of the estate for the community" and that it represents "€252,000 very well invested" that will give "a very different face to the manor house."
For his part, Mayor José Ramón Romero recalled the restoration of the chapel last year with the Provincial Council's help and described the work as "necessary" to "conserve these very degraded buildings that lack roofs."
The works will include rebuilding collapsed roofs, consolidating stone walls, preparing the ground, and installing doors and windows, along with a rainwater collection system. The aim is to halt deterioration and protect the buildings for future functional recovery.
During the visit, they also inspected the ongoing works on the DP-1105 road between Noia and Boiro. This final phase, with an investment of €262,000, will complete the improvement of the 15.6-kilometer route, which has already received €1.5 million in previous phases. The work focuses on resurfacing, drainage improvements, verge and ditch clearing, and signage renewal, including relocating a pedestrian crossing and adding sidewalks.
