The lack of parking spaces in Fontiñas is a demand affecting both residents and the commercial activity and services of the area. To address this need, the City Council is working on two complementary lines: the tender for three new parking lots and the opening of a procedure to identify and acquire more land for a fourth public parking facility.
In this context, the Local Government Board approved the tender for the works of three park-and-ride facilities on Rúa Primavera, Avenida Vila Verde, and Ronda Xosé Castiñeira, near the Music Conservatory. The three locations will serve the Avenida das Fontiñas at different points and will provide 103 parking spaces for vehicles, as well as areas for motorcycles and bicycles.
The total budget for the works amounts to 273,578.56 euros, including VAT, and the estimated execution period is six months. The 103 spaces will be distributed across three locations: 27 on Rúa Primavera, 18 on Avenida Vila Verde (one reserved for people with reduced mobility), and 58 on Ronda Xosé Castiñeira. The projects share a paving solution that integrates grass into the surface, promoting water infiltration and reducing the impermeable area.
In addition to these three projects, a new initiative aims to expand parking options. The City Council is opening a public information period for owners of plots in the vicinity of Rolda das Fontiñas to offer their land, with an area between 2,000 and 4,000 square meters and within a maximum distance of 150 meters from the Ronda's boundaries. Interested landowners will have 20 working days to submit documentation.
