The President of the Provincial Council, Carmela López, handed over the keys to the president of Lugomadera, Mª Carmen Gayoso, at the Pazo de San Marcos, where the association's extraordinary assembly was held. The mobile unit includes audiovisual equipment and demonstration tools for training on occupational safety, machinery operation, pruning techniques, and environmental and road safety best practices.
The President of the Provincial Council highlighted that "supporting continuous training and the safety of those who work in the forest is fundamental for the development of our rural areas. With this 'classroom on wheels', we facilitate knowledge reaching directly where the activity takes place, improving competitiveness and working conditions in a key sector for Lugo's economy."
The mobile unit will offer content adapted to the sector's real needs, covering basic forestry operations, regulatory, environmental, and preventive aspects. Occupational safety and health will be a focus, with specific training on the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe work techniques.
This itinerant classroom will allow training to be delivered directly in the forest, facilitating access to updated knowledge without distance being an added difficulty. The Provincial Council of Lugo thus reaffirms its commitment to the professionalization of the forestry sector and the improvement of occupational safety.
The event also hosted Lugomadera's extraordinary General Assembly, which represents over 270 companies in the Galician forestry sector. The Deputy for Economic and Social Promotion, Pablo Rivera Capón, emphasized the association's importance as "a strategic pillar for the province's economy" and reaffirmed the Provincial Council's commitment to the sector.
