The Association of Local Entities for the Galician Language (Alingua), which includes the Narón City Council through its Galician Language Normalization Service, has signed a collaboration protocol with the Galician Culture Council (CCG) to develop joint promotion and normalization actions.
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation to schedule cultural activities, exchange projects and materials, develop educational and informational resources, and conduct research on the status of the Galician language. It also foresees collaboration with other institutions and the creation of a monitoring committee.
Among the first initiatives is a study by the Observatory of Galician Culture on the supply and demand of Galician-language products and services for children, aiming to better understand families' needs and facilitate their connection with existing offerings.
The first phase of this study will be a meeting on November 7 in Santiago de Compostela, coordinated by Alingua, involving families from the Apego program. During this meeting, families will share their experiences with daily consumption and leisure activities in Galician and analyze the availability, price, quality, and age-appropriateness of products and services.
The findings from this event, along with a subsequent online survey, will help identify the main gaps in the current offerings and convey families' demands to the productive and business sectors.
Alingua was established in 2019 to promote and drive actions that increase the use of the Galician language. The Narón City Council participates in the association through its Galician Language Normalization Service.
