The Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Sports, Diego Calvo, presented his department's budget for 2027 to Parliament today, totaling over 608 million euros, with significant reinforcement for municipalities, emergency services, justice services, and sustainable mobility.

The 2027 budget aims to address the needs of the Galician population and improve their quality of life, as stated by Diego Calvo. Promoting physical activity and sports, as well as Galicia's image abroad, are other key objectives.
Key novelties focus on support for local entities, with an allocation of 27 million euros. Highlights include the new Concellos en Rede (Municipalities Network) initiative (€2.5M) to finance current expenses from shared service provision and joint hiring of specialized staff. The specific community action plan for neighborhood and rural women's associations also sees its budget increased from 3 to 4 million euros.
Emergency services will receive €44.6 million. A new risk management tool will be implemented, along with a €500,000 aid line for acquiring emergency vehicles for municipalities. Support continues for Inter-municipal Emergency Groups, Volunteer Civil Protection Associations, and fire consortia (over €16.7 million).
The justice budget amounts to €203 million, with a 10% increase for the new judicial office staff and over an 8% rise in free legal aid (exceeding €20 million). €500,000 is allocated to the digital cataloging of judicial archives, and €10 million for improving judicial infrastructure.
In mobility, the budget totals nearly €202 million. Notable allocations include €90 million for school and shared transport and €40.8 million for general-use transport. The new Conecta Line (Ferrol-As Pontes-Lugo) and the MoBT platform will be launched, including a pilot plan for on-demand rural taxi service (MoBT en taxi no rural). The EBici program continues with a €1 million allocation.
The General Secretariat for Sports will have €41 million, including contributions to sports federations and clubs, the Xogade program (€4.4M), and support for high-level sports. Sports infrastructure will be improved, such as the Galician Center for Sports Technification in Pontevedra and the Campo do Couto in Ourense.
Galicia's external action will receive €13.4 million, primarily for the 2027 Annual Cooperation Plan. Work will also focus on cross-border cooperation and Galicia's presence in Europe.
