The Ares City Council is promoting domestic composting by installing 50 new composters, in a project subsidized by the Xunta de Galicia and co-financed by the European Union.

The Ares City Council continues to advance its commitment to environmental sustainability and the improvement of municipal waste management through the development of a new project aimed at promoting domestic composting, especially in rural households. This initiative, subsidized by the Xunta de Galicia and co-financed by the European Union through the Galicia FEDER 2021-2027 program, contributes to improving the management of bio-waste and fostering the circular economy in the municipality.
The project is part of Line 3 of grants to increase eco-efficiency in the management of municipal waste, convened by the Consellería de Medio Ambiente e Cambio Climático of the Xunta de Galicia. With an awarded budget of 9,184.20 euros, it includes the installation of 50 new 400-liter domestic composters, aiming to enable residents to transform organic waste generated in their homes into natural compost.
The actions carried out include the supply and installation of the composters, the delivery of bins for separating bio-waste, the distribution of composting kits, and the execution of 100 training, dissemination, and monitoring activities. Personalized advice will also be provided to participating individuals through specialized visits.
Through this project, the Ares City Council reinforces its actions to promote waste separation at the source, reduce the environmental impact of its management, and encourage responsible habits among citizens, fostering a circular economy model.
