The memory workshops promoted by the Silleda Council, within the Voluntariado+65 program, have successfully started in Escuadro and Cortegada. The sessions, led by retired teacher and volunteer Consuelo Moreira, will continue until May and will also reach Cira and Lamela starting this Monday.
The activity takes place weekly. On Fridays, sessions will be held at the Social Center of Escuadro (17:00-18:00) and the Social Center of Cortegada (18:30-19:30). Starting Monday, October 19th, Cira (17:00-18:00) and Lamela (18:30-19:30) will be added.
These sessions are completely free and open to all interested residents. They include exercises to work on memory, attention, concentration, language, and reasoning, as well as fostering socialization and community participation.
The Councilor for Rural Affairs, Asunción García, thanked Consuelo Moreira, a new municipal volunteer, for her involvement during the course's launch in Escuadro.
The Voluntariado+65 program aims to encourage the active participation of retired individuals, valuing their knowledge and experience. It is linked to the Silleda Dinamiza Network, which brings social and educational proposals to rural areas.
“"With Voluntariado+65 we want to open a path for all those retired people who have experience, knowledge and, above all, the desire to continue contributing to their community. The start of these workshops shows that there is interest both in participating and in"
The Council plans to progressively expand the program with new proposals and the incorporation of more volunteers.
