The Director General of FP, Eugenia Pérez, inaugurated the fifth edition of the Basic FP Conference, which brought together over 200 professionals in Santiago to discuss new teaching strategies in this educational field. Pérez emphasized that this modality serves as a crucial tool for overcoming challenges and rebuilding educational and life paths.
The representative from the Consellería de Educación underscored the Xunta's Government commitment to Vocational Training, particularly Basic FP, whose available places have been significantly boosted in recent years through the Plan Conecta FP Galicia. She praised the dedication of Galician teachers, describing them as "role models, support systems, and points of trust" for students facing complex situations.
Beyond quantitative growth, Pérez highlighted qualitative advancements with new pioneering modalities such as Adapted FP and Basic FP for Adults, aimed at encouraging student retention in the educational system and combating early school leaving. An integrated pathway between basic and intermediate grade cycles has also been implemented, starting as a pilot program in Culinary Arts and Restoration at the CIFP Compostela.
The new Galician Framework for Educational Advancement includes measures for the comprehensive improvement of the system and the reinforcement of basic competencies in basic grade FP. The goal is to foster learning focused on recovering and consolidating reading, mathematical, and scientific skills, leveraging the applied nature of Vocational Training.
