The students specializing in forestry at the Employment Workshop in Valga are continuing to carry out various conditioning and environmental conservation activities in public spaces, green areas, and sites of heritage and natural value within the municipality. These tasks allow participants to put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired during their training period, while also providing a service to the community.
Among the most notable interventions are the refurbishment of the Irmáns Dios Mosquera Park, where they performed cleaning, conditioning, and maintenance pruning, and the Mina Mercedes lagoon. The latter focused on the removal of invasive plant species, mainly mimosas and acacias, to promote the regeneration of native flora and ensure the preservation of the local ecosystem.
The workshop team also traveled to the river area of Vilarello, where safety and cleaning work was carried out. Several trees posing a fall risk were removed, along with other already dead specimens.
Other points of action include the viewpoint of the Muíño de Vento de Beiro, the surroundings of the Cordeiro pavilion and the Igrexa Vella archaeological site, the oak grove of Campaña, slopes of the bridge over the train tracks, and the areas around the municipal treatment plant. In these spaces, they performed clearing, cleaning, and care tasks.
