The plenary session of the Concello de Curtis approved this Thursday modifying the job positions (RPT) to adjust functions and reduce the waste fee for micro-enterprises.

The plenary session of the Concello de Curtis approved this Thursday modifying the job positions (RPT) with the aim of adjusting the functions performed by municipal staff. This update seeks to enhance the efficiency of local administration and strengthen the legal basis for their work.
The modification reviews positions within the works and services unit, as well as technical and administrative roles. It also improves the conditions for workers in the Supramunicipal Emergency Group (GES), who are now moved to Group IV. Furthermore, a position for a sports monitor-trainer is created to expand services at the municipal gyms in Curtis and Teixeiro, and the working hours for the legal advisor at the Women's Information Center (CIM) are increased.
The proposal, drafted by the same company that prepared the original RPT, was approved in the plenary session with a favorable vote from the Partido Popular and the abstention of the Bloque Nacionalista Galego. Previously, it received unanimous approval from staff representatives and unions.
Another point addressed was the halving of the waste collection and management fee for micro-enterprises. The current fiscal ordinance set it at 392 euros annually for businesses with fewer than 10 employees; following the unanimous approval, they will now pay 200 euros, a reduction of 49%.
The mayor, Javier Caínzos, indicated that the municipal government would ideally like to reduce tariffs further, but current legislation, based on the principle of 'polluter pays,' prevents it. "If the law allowed municipalities to co-finance the service, we would study it," he stated.
The council also approved the delegation of tax powers to the Provincial Council (Deputación), which will now manage and collect fines for traffic violations and breaches of the anti-smoking law, due to an increase in violation notices issued by the Civil Guard.
A motion from the BNG for the improvement of primary healthcare in the medical centers of Curtis and Teixeiro was debated. The Popular Party group stated that the Town Council already communicates these needs to the Xunta and that a regional plan is in place to reinforce staff and infrastructure.
Finally, the BNG presented motions condemning the genocide against the Palestinian people and proposing the addition of two janitorial positions in the schools of Teixeiro and Curtis. The urgency of both was dismissed as they had already been voted on and approved in previous plenary sessions.
