The Secretary General for Sport, Roberto García, participated in the presentation of the Edommo Surf Pro Razo 2026, an event of the World Surf League being held until next Sunday at Razo beach, in Carballo, with the participation of approximately 150 athletes.
During the event, Roberto García congratulated the organization on the event's category upgrade, which this year moves from junior to absolute by integrating into the World Surf League's Qualifying Series 2.000. This new qualification allows surfers to accumulate points to improve their position in the world rankings and strengthens Galicia's presence on the international surf circuit.
García also highlighted the importance of surfing in Galicia, emphasizing its sporting value, economic impact, and connection to a region with nearly 1,700 kilometers of coastline. He also noted that the region has over 2,600 surfing licenses, of which 1,208 belong to women.
