The Club Os Caminhantes do Condado is organizing the 10th edition of the Trail de Arcos – José Teixeira on October 18, 2026, in Ponteareas. The event, which pays tribute to the athlete José Teixeira, expects between 450 and 500 participants from Galicia, Spain, and Portugal.
This year's main novelty is that all race categories will traverse the interior of the emblematic Castelo de Sobroso, using an access point that is usually closed to the general public. The start and finish lines will be located at the Centro Cultural de Arcos. The course, consisting of 97% dirt tracks, paths, and forest trails, will lead runners through the mountains of A Picaraña, Coto Landín, and the Xabriña river.
The Councilor for Sports, Nicolás Rodríguez, highlighted the historical appeal of the route through local heritage, while the mayor, Nava Castro, emphasized the event's deep roots and its role in promoting Ponteareas, as well as showcasing the area's natural and gastronomic richness.
The event will feature four modalities: the Long Trail (26 km) with a positive elevation gain of 1,600 meters; the Short Trail (16 km) with 1,050 meters of positive elevation gain; the Mini Trail (11.5 km) with 650 meters of positive elevation gain, which will also connect to Castelo de Vilasobroso; and the Walk (8 km).
The organization will provide services such as changing rooms, showers, cloakroom, runner's bag, medals, and an exclusive Finisher gift for those completing the 16 km and 26 km distances. The day will conclude with an official trophy ceremony, a prize draw, and a communal lunch.
Registration will remain open on the Cronotec platform until tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, at 11:59 PM.
