The A Cañiza Town Hall has incorporated seven new Husqvarna brush cutters, acquired for 6,310.15 euros, to enhance cleaning and vegetation management, contributing to forest fire prevention.

Mayor Luis Piña yesterday received the seven Husqvarna brand brush cutters that will join the municipal machinery park. These tools will reinforce cleaning, clearing, and maintenance tasks for ditches, plots, forests, and other areas with overgrowth.
The supply was awarded to the company Maquinaria Agrícola Carpintero, S.L., for an amount of 6,310.15 euros (VAT included). This purchase is part of a municipal project for acquiring machinery for environmental protection, subsidized with 78,869.23 euros from the Xunta de Galicia's Environmental Compensation Fund for 2026.
The incorporation of these units will increase the work capacity of municipal services, improve the response to territory maintenance needs, and reduce response times. It will also enable municipal staff to perform certain clearing tasks directly, decreasing reliance on external resources when circumstances permit. Furthermore, the initiative contributes to forest fire prevention by controlling vegetation and reducing the accumulation of undergrowth.
The seven units are the Husqvarna 545RX model, designed for demanding tasks. They feature a 2.1 kW engine, 45.7 cm³ displacement, a 49 cm cutting width, and a 1,465 mm long shaft. They also include an adjustable handlebar, an ergonomic Balance X harness, and a LowVib damping system for enhanced comfort and maneuverability.
The acquisition was processed through a simplified open procedure, in accordance with the Law on Public Sector Contracts. The tender was published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform. Adjudication criteria included price (78 points), extended warranty period (up to 12 points), and improved delivery time (up to 10 points).
The contract was divided into two lots: one for a container washing trailer (71,390 euros), received on October 19th, and another for the seven brush cutters (6,310.15 euros).
