The declaration, published today in the Diario Oficial de Galicia, brings the number of assets with maximum heritage protection in the Autonomous Community to 805. The convent, an early 16th-century building, is situated in the locality of Trandeiras and is owned by the Xinzo de Limia City Council.
The protected complex includes the monastery, the church (owned by the Diocese of Ourense), the cloister, conventual dependencies, perimeter walls, auxiliary constructions such as an oven and an alvariza (larder), hydraulic infrastructures, and the surrounding woodland. It also encompasses five wooden altarpieces of notable artistic quality.
The convent is a historical emblem of the region and a symbol of the transition between late Gothic and Renaissance styles. Its architectural value is evident in the monumental cloister and the entrance portal, as well as the triumphal arch of the church's presbytery.
