The Xunta delegate in A Coruña, Belén do Campo, along with the territorial director of the Consellería de Política Social, María Blanco, visited the first preparation phase of the intergenerational workshop Anaquiños de Saber, taking place at the A Coruña community center. This initiative is part of the active aging program of the Consellería de Política Social e Igualdade.
The project will bring together users of this center with minors residing at the child care center San Xosé de Calasanz, aiming to foster mutual learning and transmit the knowledge, experiences, and traditions of older adults to younger generations.
Belén do Campo emphasized that projects like Anaquiños de Saber recognize the value of life experience and turn it into a learning tool for children and adolescents. The project seeks to recover small pieces of knowledge to transform them into creative workshops for the minors, transmitting insights on customs, language, crafts, and traditions.
The initiative is structured in two phases. The first, ongoing between October and December 2026, focuses on identifying the skills and knowledge of participating seniors and preparing materials. The second phase will begin in February 2027 with the practical implementation of the workshops, where seniors will act as teachers.
The delegate stressed that this working model promotes an exchange where all participants have something to contribute and learn, allowing minors to discover knowledge and traditions while seniors find new avenues for participation and social recognition.
