The provincial contribution will be used to co-finance the production of the opera Jenůfa, by Leoš Janáček, which was performed last September at the Palacio de la Ópera. This production marked the absolute premiere of the work in Galicia and its fourth performance in Spain.
The staging featured musical direction by José Miguel Pérez-Sierra leading the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, scenic direction by Emiliano Suárez, and the participation of the Coro Gaos. The cast was headed by Vanessa Goikoetxea, Eliska Weissova, Alejandro Roy, and Joan Lainez.
The signing of this agreement coincides with the current programming of Tosca, which returned to the Coruña season after 22 years and will have a second performance tomorrow, Saturday, October 24. Puccini's work brings together Miren Urbieta-Vega, Ragaa Eldin, and Carlos Álvarez, under the musical direction of Oliver Díaz.
This agreement continues the Council's support for Amigos da Ópera, an entity founded in 1952 and the oldest operatic association in Spain. The collaboration helps maintain a program that expands A Coruña's cultural offerings and promotes the work of professionals in the sector.
