The Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Gonzalo Castro, presented today the Modiña Summit 2026, an event now in its fourth edition, which will focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, tourism, and commerce linked to the fashion industry. The event aims to reinforce the city's historical relationship with fashion and position it as a strategic element for economic, cultural, and tourism development.
During the presentation, Castro highlighted that "In A Coruña, creativity comes out onto the streets. It's in a shop window, in a workshop, in an exhibition; in the way of dressing, of setting the table, and of opening doors to visitors. We call this relationship between who we are, what we create, and what we share 'Cultura de Vivir' (Culture of Living)".
This edition's program includes for the first time a Fashion and Tourism Press Trip around A Coruña, aimed at journalists and content creators. This initiative will tour representative city spaces to explore its connection with the textile industry, commerce, craftsmanship, and gastronomy, aiming to strengthen A Coruña's position as a fashion and creativity destination.
On November 5th, starting at 4:00 PM at the Work Café Santander, JF64 Emprende will take place, a space where nine textile and fashion projects will present their proposals to a specialized jury. The impact of artificial intelligence on the sector and development opportunities for the Galician fashion ecosystem will also be discussed.
Additionally, there will be a round table on tourism titled "A Coruña, fashion destination. Galicia, fashion destination," and a forum on the future of commerce and digitalization. Communicator and fashion expert Josie will give a special talk.
The councilor emphasized the importance of fashion as a cultural expression and economic driver, stating that "fashion holds a place in our city's identity. It brings together the sensitivity of the designer, the knowledge of the maker, and the proximity of the shopkeeper. It turns creation into work and personality into a traveling language. It is culture that is worn and carries the name of Galicia around the world".
According to the organization, Modiña 2026 will feature over thirty opinion leaders from the sector and achieve wide dissemination through social media and specialized media, consolidating itself as a key forum for analyzing the transformations of a strategic sector for Galicia's economy and external projection.
