The Minister of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training, Román Rodríguez, visited the Vicente Risco School in the Teis neighborhood of Vigo today, affirming that the Xunta's 2027 Budgets maintain the commitment to improving educational centers and R&D+i in Vigo.

The draft budget law, approved yesterday by the Consello da Xunta, continues the support for the University of Vigo in sustaining research programs, including predoctoral, postdoctoral, and industrial doctoral training, research groups, and scientists recognized by the European Research Council. It also supports the five centers of singular excellence, collaborative centers of the CIGUS network, and the construction of the new Marine Research Center (CIM) in the Siemens building at ETEA.
The head of the regional government's education department explained that the 2027 Budgets also reflect the economic effort linked to the Educational Improvement Union Agreement, which will involve having 956 more teachers in the 2026/27 academic year, in addition to reinforcing diversity support.
Other significant allocations include support for textbooks and school supplies, as well as for school canteens. The latter covers those managed directly by the Xunta, agreements with municipalities, and subsidies for parent associations managing the service, in addition to aid for users of canteens not managed by the Galician government.
The development of the Galician Framework for Educational Advancement, the in-house conversation assistant program, and the continuation of the EdugalIA project implementation are other notable projects for 2027.
