The University of Vigo held its fifth awards ceremony at the Redeiras building, recognizing the "work, effort, and dedication" of eight alumni, three of whom received honorary awards.

Rector Carmen García Mateo highlighted the achievements of the awardees in her speech, covering categories such as entrepreneurship, humanities, social impact, professional trajectory, and research.
Among the Honorary Alumni recognized are writer Ledicia Costas, engineer Alejandro Sanz Fonta from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula Once Team, and the director of the Naval Military School of Marín, Tomás Clavijo Rey-Stolle, who received the Amigo-Alumni UVigo award.
The Alumni UVigo 2026 awards were presented to Iria Varela Campo (Entrepreneurship), Ramón Méndez González (Humanities), Alvaro Soto Táboas (Social Impact), Alberto Gonzalez Muiño (Professional Trajectory), and David Aramburu Núñez (Research).
These awards, chosen by popular vote and presented by figures such as Luis Pérez Freire, Director General of Gradiant, and África González, Professor of Immunology at UVigo, aim to foster the University's relationship with its alumni and strengthen a sense of belonging.
The Vice-Rector for Students and University Life, Dolores González, noted that the Alumni community, established in 2022 with just over 1,000 members, has grown to 3,500 and is developing projects like a 'one-day' mentorship program.
Rector Carmen García Mateo concluded the event by emphasizing pride in belonging to the University of Vigo, highlighting the quality of its teaching, research, and contribution to Galicia's progress, and expressing the university's pride in its graduates.
